Meet Mary Laymon
With over 36 years of teaching and performing experience, Mary Laymon loves helping singers discover their most confident, expressive voices. Known for her artistry, warmth, and supportive teaching style, she works with students of all levels — from beginners to professionals — guiding them toward healthy technique and authentic musical expression.
Mary has performed with The National Opera, San Francisco Opera, and The Minnesota Opera, and draws on her experience in both opera and musical theatre to help her students sing with freedom and connection.
A longtime instructor at the MacPhail Center for Music and now the Director of the Plymouth Chapel Singers, Mary brings deep expertise and genuine care to every lesson.
She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and their two very musical dogs, Charlie and Teddy — and she's always excited to welcome new voices to her studio.
